Practical guides for couples across borders
LovHQ is a free, browser-based toolkit for adults already in cross-border relationships. These guides help with visits, records, household planning and selected country-specific route questions. The immigration explainers link to official sources, but are not legal advice or eligibility assessments. LovHQ is not a dating, matching or profile service.
Plan the practical parts of your relationship
Read a country-specific route explainer
These pages cover only the named jurisdiction and route family. They separate relationship categories, point to official government instructions and show where a process may have later steps. A general guide cannot decide whether an individual qualifies or predict a decision.
Use a tool for the next planning step
Estimate visits with the Long-Distance Budget Calculator, compare time in two selected cities with the Shared Hours Finder, or count dates with the Days Together Calculator. The Visa Preparation Checklist is a broad planning prompt, not an official checklist. None of these tools decides immigration eligibility or predicts an outcome.
Start with the authority for the exact route
A fiancé route is not the same as a spouse route, and one country's partner definition does not apply everywhere. For current instructions, use the official authority responsible for your route:
- United States, K-1 fiancé(e): USCIS fiancé(e) visa guidance and the Department of State K-1 page.
- United States, spouse immigrant visa: USCIS spouse guidance and the Department of State spouse-visa page.
- United Kingdom, partner or spouse: GOV.UK partner/spouse guidance and information and evidence instructions.
- Australia, partner routes: LovHQ 309/820 and subclass 300 explainer, plus the official onshore and offshore pages.
- Canada, family sponsorship: LovHQ spouse, common-law and conjugal category explainer and the official IRCC category guidance.
Government requirements, fees, forms and processing guidance can change and may depend on route, location, nationality and case. Check the live official source before acting. LovHQ publishes general planning information, not legal or immigration advice.
How LovHQ prepares these guides
LovHQ is the publisher; no individual writer or professional reviewer credential is claimed. Each route-specific article shows its source-check date and links government information beside jurisdiction-specific claims. Search query groups are editorial hypotheses, not measured search volume or ranking claims. Planning examples are labelled, and no approval rate, personal experience or typical result is invented. Read about LovHQ's scope and editorial approach.
